biography

Originally, from Chicago, Faith made her classical music debut in December of 1997 when she performed as a guest pianist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Soon after, in 1998 she appeared as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Since then she has performed in concerts, competitions, and radio stations throughout United States, and has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. Along with performing for numerous associations such as The Chicago Arts Club, The Cliff Dwellers and The Ravinia Music Festival, she has also participated in master classes with renowned pianists such as Andre Watts, Ian Hominick, and Richard Goode.

In June of 2005, Faith completed her studies with Sylvia Wang at Northwestern University where she received a full scholarship to study Piano Performance and Psychology. In May of 2007, Ms. McCoy completed a Masters Degree from Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Arkady Aronov. Faith currently works in Development for The Orchestra of St. Luke's and teaches throughout New York City.

Most of all, Faith is passionate about helping children to develop a passion for music. Many of her students have come to view her as both an instructor and a mentor, a role that she warmly invites.

my teaching approach

Beyond her career as a performer, Faith is uniquely dedicated to sharing the benefits of the piano with young children. She believes in a fun and uncomplicated method of instruction, while at the same time introducing her students to the value of discipline from the very first lesson. She incorporates many different methods of teaching in order to adapt to individual students' needs, but ultimately relies on her years of experience and pedagogy training as a solid basis for interacting with students in the classroom.
